New Graphical User Interface (GUI)

One of the first things you will notice upon logging into the Web1040 Pro this year is that the GUI is much more modern. It is important to note that while at first glance, things might appear different, everything is just as it was. The biggest change you will notice is that the Navigation panel has moved to the left which enables you to access information in less clicks than previously -- thereby speeding up the completion of a tax return.

Interview Mode

Beginning this tax season, Interview Mode is available for completing tax returns. Estimator and Forms Manager are still available for those that prefer those methods for completing returns.

Additional Program Enhancements

  • Strong Passwords

A new requirement for login passwords has been enabled. Passwords must be changed every 30 days and the previous 3 passwords cannot be reused. Passwords must meet the following minimum requirements when the password is changed or created:

    • Must be at least 8 characters and not longer than 20 characters
    • 1 upper case letter
    • 1 lower case letter
    • 1 number
    • 1 special character for example: !@#$%^&*()
  • Exceeded Login Attempts

Customers will get four tries to login, if the customer is unable to login within the four tries, the login will be locked for 60 minutes. They can wait for 60 minutes for the login to reset or if they need immediate access, they can contact their Office Manager or we can unlock the login for them.

  • Disabled Paid Preparers

We have added the ability to mark a Paid Preparer as active or not active. Preparers that have been marked as not active will not be available for selection when creating returns.

  • Auto Generate Taxpayer PIN

If this feature has been enabled in the Account Profile page, the program will auto generate the taxpayer and spouse PIN that will be carried to the 8879.

  • Invoices

Invoicing has been updated to display the payments received from the taxpayer in the PDF. There is now a setting that can be enabled in the Service Bureau panel that will require the invoice to be printed prior to submitting the return.

  • Preview Return Utilities
    • 1040 Preview

This will allow the preparer to easily view just the Federal 1040 form and the main State form associated with the return.

    • View Invoice

This new feature will print the invoice and display the cost of the final return and any payments the taxpayer made and if there is an outstanding balance.

  • Income & Information Details Checklist

This form is now generated when either previewing or printing the final tax return. This checklist will display taxpayer's name, filing status, refund type, dependents and a breakdown of the income.

  • Save & Add Button

We have added a Save & Add button to worksheets that may have multiple occurrences like the W2, Sch C, dependents… etc.

  • Advanced Return Filter

The preparer now has the ability to easily search for returns using the new search filters at the top of the Saved Returns, Filed Returns and Amended Returns pages.

  • Find Form

Within Forms Manager we have added a new find feature to easily locate a form from the list. Form that is selected from the dropdown list will become highlighted in the list for easy selection.

  • Efile Extensions

New for Web1040 Pro will be the ability to efile an extension through the Web1040 Pro. Previously, a customer would have to mail the extension forms in to the IRS.
